CHICAGO – University of Chicago's Andrew Maneval and Laura Darcey both received post-meet accolades on Wednesday in the wake of last weekend's University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Maneval was picked as the UAA Outdoor Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer for the second-straight year. The senior captured two UAA championships in the discus (46.99 meters) and the shot put (15.34 meters). He was also third in the hammer throw (47.36 meters) to pick up All-UAA status. Over the past two years, Maneval has accumulated three event titles and seven All-UAA honors.
Darcey was voted as the UAA Women's Outdoor Rookie of the Year. Her outdoor debut featured a win in the long jump, as her final leap of 5.60 meters topped the field. UChicago ended up sweeping the top three places in the event. Darcey also captured All-UAA honors in the high jump, finishing third with a height of 1.59 meters.
