VALPARAISO, Ind. – The University of Chicago track and field women's team took fourth place and the men's team placed seventh at the Valparaiso University Crusader Open on Saturday.
University of Illinois-Chicago won the women's half with 139.5 points, while UChicago scored 78.5 points. The Maroon men tallied 29 points and Valparaiso was first with 180 points.
Freshman Taylor Padak tied for first in the women's high jump with a top height of 1.50 meters. Fellow freshman Laura Darcey was also a winner in the long jump at 5.28 meters. UChicago's success continued in the field events with freshman Isabel Garon taking runner-up at 3.20 meters, which tied freshman teammate Michelle Biesman.
UChicago's men were led by junior Cristen Bublitz, who finished second in the javelin with a top heave of 46.87 meters.
