UChicago Track & Field Teams Earn Nine USTFCCCA All-Region Honors


CHICAGO – The University of Chicago track and field teams saw eight student-athletes earn nine U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCAA) Division III All-Region honors as announced by the organization Monday.

The Maroon women, who recently captured their fifth University Athletic Association team championship, had five athletes honored in the Midwest Region, as sophomore Laura Darcey led with two all-region honors in both the high jump and pentathlon.

Also earning all-region nods for the UChicago women were senior Cassidy McPherson (800), sophomore Robin Peter (60-meter hurdles), junior Nicole VacaGuzman (400) and senior Megan Verner-Crist (mile).

On the men's side, three Maroons earned All-Region honors: senior Nathan Downey (pole vault), senior Patrick LeFevre (60-meter hurdles), and sophomore Joe Previdi (800).

In total, 772 honors were awarded to men's athletes and 781 awards given to women's programs around the country. The Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned the honor.
