BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Chicago track and field teams closed out the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships strong on Saturday with three more All-American finishes.

The two-day meet – hosted by Birmingham-Southern College – saw the Maroons collect a total of five All-American awards by placing in the top eight of each respective event.

Sophomore Laura Darcey became a two-time All-American after her performance in the high jump. Darcey came in as the 13th seed and got off to a perfect start by clearing her opening four attempts through 1.68 meters. That would be her final mark as she tied for fifth place. The previous day, she took sixth in the pentathlon.

Later that afternoon, junior Nicole VacaGuzman ran the women's 400-meter final. After taking seventh in prelims on Friday, VacaGuzman finished eighth with a time of 56.44.

UChicago's final competitor was sophomore Joe Previdi in the men's 800 meters, who previously placed second in the prelims. The final turned out to be a photo finish – Previdi took national runner-up by a mere 0.03 seconds behind the winner. His time of 1:51.83 broke his own school record.
