Chicago Edges Illinois Tech
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team won for the second time in as many dual meets this season as it defeated the host Illinois Institute of Technology 133-110 Friday evening. Junior Jacob Hanebutt (Overland Park, Kan./ Blue Valley North) won two individual events, as he took top honors in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles with respective times of 5:03.12 and 10:17.61.

Maroons Win Big in Season Debut
WHEATON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team opened its 2009-10 season with a 168-37 win Saturday at Wheaton (Ill.) College. Senior Brian Young (Douglassville, Pa./ St. Pius) (pictured), sophomore Marius Aleska (Riverside, Ill./ Riverside Brookfield), sophomore Nicholas Santoro (Barrington, Ill./ Barrington), and freshman Justin Yu (South Barrington, Ill./ Barrington) each won one individual event and participated on a winning relay team.

Maroons to Participate in
"Hour of Power" Relay
(Nov. 4, 2009) -- On Nov. 10, the Maroons will participate in the “Hour of Power” relay in honor of Carleton College swimmer Ted Mullin, who died in the fall of 2006 from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer. |
