Maroons Defeat Chicago State

CHICAGO -- The fourth-ranked University of Chicago women's tennis team defeated Division I rival Chicago State University 4-3 Sunday at the Homewood-Flossmoor Tennis Center. Sophomores Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach), Jennifer Kung (Sunnyvale, Calif./ Homestead), and Tiffany Nguyen (Saratoga, Calif./ Monta Vista) (pictured) won at first, second, and fifth singles, respectively, as the Maroons improved to 3-1 on the year.

Kendra Higgins & Chrissy Hu Net UAA Weekly Honors

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago junior Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) and sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) have been named this week's University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for women's tennis.

Maroons Capture Singles, Doubles Titles at ITA Regional

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) (left) won the singles title and teamed up with junior Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) to claim the doubles crown at the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional. Higgins defeated sophomore teammate Carmen Vaca Guzman (Wyoming, Mich./ Grandville) (right) 6-4, 6-2 in the singles championship match.

Maroons Tour Uruguay, Argentina

CHICAGO -- Making their first-ever overseas trip, the University of Chicago women's tennis team will tour two South American countries from Sept. 9-18. The Maroons will spend six days in Uruguay before heading to Argentina for a three-day visit.
