Kendra Higgins Named UAA Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for women's tennis, the conference announced today.

Kendra Higgins Places Second at ITA Singles Championship

MOBILE, Ala. -- University of Chicago sophomore women's tennis player Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) finished as the runner-up in the singles competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championship. Following the event, she received the James O'Hara Sargent Sportsmanship Award.

Maroons Capture Singles, Doubles Titles at ITA Regional

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) (left) won the singles title and teamed up with junior Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) to claim the doubles crown at the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional. Higgins defeated sophomore teammate Carmen Vaca Guzman (Wyoming, Mich./ Grandville) (right) 6-4, 6-2 in the singles championship match.

Maroons Tour Uruguay, Argentina

CHICAGO -- Making their first-ever overseas trip, the University of Chicago women's tennis team will tour two South American countries from Sept. 9-18. The Maroons will spend six days in Uruguay before heading to Argentina for a three-day visit.

Kendra Higgins, Chrissy Hu Win NCAA Doubles Championship

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- University of Chicago sophomore Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) and freshman Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) won the doubles title at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Higgins and Hu became the first Maroons to claim NCAA Division III women's tennis individual titles.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The University of Chicago captured fourth place at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship after dropping a 5-1 decision to Emory University in the third-place match Thursday at the Collins Hill Tennis Club.

Kendra Higgins Named UAA MVP

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago freshman Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) has been named the University Athletic Association Most Valuable Player as the conference today released its 2009 All-Association Women's Tennis Team. Higgins was also named UAA Rookie of the Year and selected to the All-Association First Team at first singles and first doubles.

MOBILE, Ala. -- University of Chicago freshman women's tennis player Jennifer Kung (Sunnyvale, Calif./ Homestead) captured the singles title at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Small College Championship held Thursday through Saturday at the Copleland-Cox Tennnis Center.
