In his three years as the head women's basketball coach at the University of Chicago, Aaron Roussell has garnered national, regional, and conference acclaim for the program.

Since being elevated to the head coaching position prior to the start of the 2004-05 season, Roussell has compiled an overall record of 51-24 (.680) and has seen his teams ranked among the NCAA Division III top-25 each of the past two years.

In 2006-07, Chicago won its first 16 games en route to capturing the #1 spot in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll. The Maroons, who finished the year with an 18-7 record, were included in the USA Today/ESPN top-25 poll 11 times in 14 weeks and spent 10 of 13 weeks among the D3hoops.com top-25.

Three players garnered significant individual recognition in Roussell's third year with the Maroons. Korry Schwanz led the NCAA Division III in free throw percentage, giving Chicago women's basketball its first-ever national statistical champion. In addition, Nofi Mojidi earned selection to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Team, while Molly Hackney was cited as the University Athletic Association Rookie of the Year.

En route to a 17-8 overall record in 2005-06, Chicago made its initial appearances in the D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN national rankings. The Maroons spent five weeks in each poll, standing as high as 18th (D3hoops.com) and 20th (USA Today/ESPN).

Assuming the head coaching responsibilities less than one month after his appointment as an assistant, Roussell engineered one of the school's most successful seasons to date in his debut campaign in 2004-05. The Maroons posted a 16-9 overall record and boasted a Kodak All-American in Susie Gutowski -- Chicago's first All-American in 14 years.

Roussell arrived at Chicago as an assistant coach in September 2004 before being elevated to the head coaching position just three weeks later.

Before his appointment at Chicago, Roussell served a two-year stint as an assistant coach at the Minnesota State University-Mankato. During his tenure at the NCAA Division II institution, he assisted in all phases of the women’s basketball program. In addition to his coaching duties, he was involved in team academic performance, summer camps, NCAA compliance, promotions, and community service.

In 2001-02, Roussell gained his first coaching experience as the assistant varsity and head junior varsity boys’ basketball coach at Breck High School in Minneapolis. He has also served as an instructor at numerous basketball camps in the Minneapolis area.

Roussell is a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa, where he earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in journalism & mass communication and political science. He also holds a master’s degree in sports administration from Minnesota State University-Mankato.

A Minnesota native, Roussell was a basketball and football letterwinner at Wayzata High School.
