Katie Britton was hired as Assistant Athletic Director for Development in July 2017.
Britton leads efforts in athletic fundraising goals, strategies and priorities while developing the major gifts program within Athletics & Recreation. With a dual role as an Associate Director in Alumni Relations & Development, Britton is responsible for growing annual giving to the "Friends of Maroon Athletics" giving society and soliciting major gifts for athletics.
Britton came to UChicago from her alma mater, Valparaiso University. She initially started as Assistant Director of Annual Giving in early 2015, and then became Assistant Director of the Crusader Fund in 2016. Prior to Valparaiso, Britton held the Alumni Engagement Officer position at Lakeland University in 2014-15. She also spent two seasons as Assistant Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach for Lakeland.
Outside of her development work, Britton has remained active in the volleyball community. She has coached for the 18U Enigma Boy's Club Volleyball team, the boys' volleyball team at Chesterton High School and the Wisconsin Volleyball Academy.
As an undergraduate, Britton was a four-year letterwinner for the Crusaders volleyball team. She led the team in kills per set as a junior and senior, and was named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. Britton graduated from Valparaiso with her bachelor's degree in psychology. She then went on to earn her master's degree in counseling, with an emphasis in higher education, at Lakeland.
