Men's Soccer updates from Europe: August 8

After our arrival last night from Vienna, we have trained a few times at NK Spansko, our host club while in Zagreb. We have experienced a few wonderful meals that have included locally-made meats and cheeses at both the hotel and at a traditional restaurant on our way to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Plitvice is an incredible array of 16 turquoise lakes connected by waterfalls. The fellas were stunned by the beauty and have probably never taken so many photos in their lives. It was a real test of will not to dive in for a swim ... forbidden unfortunately!

We look forward to a visit in Zagreb tomorrow followed by a match against third division side NK Spansko. We have a wonderful guide, Slaven, who works with the Croatian Football Federation and everyone has been very accommodating on the trip. Spirits are high heading into the match and really looking forward to a good amount of playing time.

Hopefully, tomorrow the heat will abate as until now it has been around 100 degrees. The city seems empty as everyone has headed for the sea to try to cool down. We will be headed to the Istrian peninsula ourselves on Saturday.
