Softball updates from Italy and Spain 2013: Day 2

Today, we woke up to a loud knock (the wake-up call) on the door at 7:45 AM. Many of us had correttos for breakfast. Then it was time for the boat tour of Lake Como to Bellagio. The views were beautiful and we saw many beautiful villas, including ones featured in Ocean's 12, Star Wars, and Casino Royale. Bellagio was beautiful with many fun shops. Many of us got gifts for family and friends. A few highlights of that trip included Jordan getting an extra scoop of gelato (always a win) for being honest with the vendor by giving him back the one too many Euros he had originally given her. Another great moment was when Emily and Zoe encountered a friendly Pug named Isolde outside a shop, who happily climbed onto Emily's lap. We then headed back for lunch in Lake Como's city center.

At 6 PM, we played against an Italian team - Softball Legnano - and lost 1-0. It was a pitcher's duel until they pushed one run across in the sixth inning. After the game, we had a family-style dinner where we got to interact and take pictures with the opposing team. They were from all around the world and it was such a great experience hearing their stories. Tab, Kim, Dev, Kristin, and Emily spoke with some people from Australia – one who used to play in Alabama and one who used to play in Hawaii! They recommended pizza places, taught us some Italian phrases and told us about how different playing in the Unite States is. Then we headed back to the hotel, and got gelato (for four people on the team, for the third time that day).
