Men's Track & Field / Throws / Junior / Plover, Wis.
Alexander Scott is a junior thrower on the UChicago men's track & field team. At the Windy City Invite last weekend, Scott placed first in the weight throw (15.17 meters) and second in the shot put (16.26 meters).
Head Coach Chris Hall: "Alex has absolutely become one of the very best throwers in the history of University of Chicago Track & Field. This past weekend, he scored 18 points, placing second in the shot put and winning the weight throw. The shot put was his best event this weekend as he moved to within just three cm of our school record behind Neal Cawi, who is in our hall of fame. The throw places him No. 11 nationally at this time. It has been a lot of fun watching Alex get better each year. He started out as a first-year making an impact upon our team, but has since done nothing but improve each year and is comfortably leading the UAA in the shot put by more than 1.5 feet."
Teammate Chris Dann: "You will be hard-pressed to find someone more committed to throws than Alex. He never stops trying to get better and his drive for excellence brings everyone in our program pride and the desire to better ourselves. This attitude is reflected through consistent performance and many, many points scored for our team each season. While generally a man of few words, his encouragement and advice as a leader on our squad come at opportune times. I’ve learned a lot from him as his teammate the past couple seasons and look forward to seeing what more he can accomplish."
