Men's Tennis / Senior / San Diego, Calif.
Major: Computer Science
Max Liu is a senior on the UChicago men's tennis team. The No. 1-ranked Maroons went 2-1 during their spring break trip to California, defeating No. 14-ranked Pomona-Pitzer and No. 6-ranked Williams College by 5-4 margins.
Head Coach Jay Tee: "Max stood out during our spring training trip because of his energy, attitude, and commitment to the success of the team. Despite not playing in the starting lineup, Max found countless other ways to lead and inspire his team during practice and competition. Max’s teammates and coaches know that they can count on him to give everything he has during practice and to be their biggest advocates when they are on the court. He has been instrumental not only this year but throughout his entire career by setting a high standard for the way the team practices and competes on a daily basis."
Teammate Charlie Pei: "Max is always an incredible teammate and this was on display during our spring break trip, where he brought energy and leadership to each and every match. Without Max, the success we had in close wins against Pomona and Williams would not be possible. Max was always the loudest one cheering from the sidelines and the first one to encourage us when we experienced difficulty during our matches. Additionally, during several of my doubles matches during the week, Max coached Josh and me to success, especially in a come-from-behind victory against CMS. It was an honor to have Max by my side this week and throughout the entire season."
