Men's Soccer / Defender / Senior / Mclean, Va.
Majors: Public Policy and Pre-med
Nate Johnson is a senior defender for the UChicago men's soccer team. The No. 7-ranked Maroons started the season with two shutouts, followed by wins over No. 21-ranked North Park University and Hope College.
Head Coach Pat Flinn: "Nate has led our back line and team to an unbeaten start in three games. The team has been led by its defense, which is led by Nate. He has not come off the field in three matches and has been utilized in three different defensive roles. Most recently as a right centerback in a back three, Nate stifled North Park’s highly-regarded attack, helping us limit them to only two shots on goal in 90 minutes."
Teammate Aaron Katsimpalis: "Nate has always been, one, a great teammate, but more importantly, a great competitor, and having him on the field always contributes to any success we have. He battles through injury and never gives up, even when asked to play other positions. Having him on the field benefits our team defensively in more ways than seen by observers, and this makes everyone else’s job easier, especially mine."
