Men's Soccer / Midfielder / Sophomore / Northbrook, Ill.
Sahil Modi is a sophomore midfielder for the UChicago men's soccer team. Modi has started all six games for the No. 6-ranked Maroons, most recently firing off five shots at Wheaton College while contributing on both sides of the ball. UChicago is riding a six-match undefeated streak to start the season.
Head Coach Pat Flinn: "Sahil is a new player in the program after transferring to UChicago this fall. He has been a key player in our matches. Although we wish we had a win or two more, we are pleased to have started unbeaten against the best schedule in the country and could not have done so without Sahil’s contributions. He has been on the field for every minute of each match, puts in a ton of dirty work, and leads by example day in and day out at training."
Teammate Ben Brandt: "I’ve known Sahil for a while having grown up with him in the northern suburbs of Chicago and playing for the same club soccer team with him. When we heard he had been accepted as a transfer student last spring and was joining the team, I knew our season and its expectations instantly became way more exciting and ambitious because of what he brings as a player and person. Sahil is the quintessential box-to-box midfielder that not only dices the other team up with his pace, dribbling, and passing but also his work ethic and grit on defense. Sahil has immediately shown all of us that he is the engine to our midfield and the most consistent performer. Beyond his play and ability, Sahil leads by example and has pushed everyone else on the team to be their best by bringing an unmatched level of hard work, discipline, honesty to his play, and kindness off the field. I know I speak for the team when I say that we are all extremely grateful and lucky to have Sahil on our team, driving us forward when we go to battle on the field and being a great friend off of it."
