Marco Cobian is a senior quarterback on the UChicago football team. On Saturday, Cobian led the Maroons to a 27-10 win against visiting Lake Forest College. He completed 15 of 22 passes for 180 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in his first start of the season.
Head Coach Chris Wilkerson: "Marco has had to deal with a ton of adversity during his career. However, he has continued to compete, improve and prepare every single week. On Saturday, he led us to a 27-10 victory over Lake Forest. Marco is a fierce competitor. I look forward to watching his grittiness as we continue the season."
Teammate Harrison Paul: "Anyone who watched the Lake Forest game could see that Marco has the talent to make game-changing plays. But what really sets him apart is his ability to stay composed and positive in the face of adversity. When the going gets tough, Marco doesn’t back down or look for an easy way out. He puts in the work and fights back, all while supporting and encouraging those around him. Sadly, many people can play football or other sports their entire lives without truly understanding how to get up after getting knocked down, how to persist and come back stronger. But for Marco, it’s natural. That’s what makes him an easy guy to rally around on and off the field."
