Jamie Kockenmeister

Jamie Kockenmeister

Women's Basketball / Guard / Senior / Greenwich, Conn.

Major: Economics

Jamie Kockenmeister is a senior guard on the Maroon women's basketball team. Kockenmeister has started all 16 games this year and is averaging career highs in points (9.1), field-goal percentage (.434), minutes (30.2), rebounds (5.5) and steals (1.9) per game. The Maroons are currently ranked No. 19 in the nation.

Head Coach Carissa Sain: "Jamie has been playing her butt off this season. She takes pride in doing the things for us that truly make a team successful and competitive – she boxes out, she rebounds, she’s shooting great shots, she’s defending every position, and playing some point guard for us! She’s the epitome of doing whatever the team needs to do to win. Jamie has already amassed more rebounds this season than she had all of last season. She’s showing a tremendous amount of heart in how she practices and plays. This nomination is long overdue."

Teammate Taylor Lake: "Jamie is the definition of hard work pays off. I can’t remember a day I have stepped into the gym and Jamie hasn’t been on the floor already getting up extra shots. It’s contagious, it makes you want to grab a ball right away and get on the floor with her. Jamie holds every person on this team to the highest standards and she will make sure we know that. Her fire and passion drive us, yet it’s Jamie's wit and playfulness that makes every practice one you want to be a part of. Off the court, Jamie is a BIG Kraft Heinz gal and it fits because she’ll put the cheesiest smile on anyone’s face. The selflessness and work ethic Jamie possesses are very rare to find but has led her to become the incredible teammate, friend, and woman she is today."

Other WAA nominees

Audrey Mason (Women's Swimming & Diving)

  • Head Coach Jason Weber: "Audrey has had a fantastic season so far with some of the most impressive training and racing I’ve seen from her during her time here. Her two impressive wins from this past weekend are a direct result of all the hard work she’s put in recently and it was a lot of fun to see her go season-best times in our first meet of the winter quarter. Audrey’s performances really energized the team and helped the women’s team to dominating wins over Lewis and Olivet Nazarene."
