Simone Stover is a senior swimmer on the Maroon women's swimming & diving team. As a team co-captain, Stover has helped lead UChicago to a 7-3 dual meet record this year, including Senior Day triumphs over Calvin College (201.5-96.5) and DePauw University (236-59). The Maroons are currently ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division III.
Head Coach Jason Weber: "Simone had some unfortunate luck twisting her ankle earlier in the week right before her final home in-season meet. Simone was able to train shortly after her injury but was not cleared to compete. Despite being very disappointed that she could not compete in her senior meet, Simone never complained or showed any disappointment as she was on-deck in her walking boot cheering on all her teammates. I know this meant a lot to her teammates and they definitely showed their appreciation in their performances Saturday (even the swimmers who were stuck doing the 400 IM because Simone had requested we add that event for her). Simone is always one of the hardest workers and most supportive teammates and this was no different when she was faced with some adversity with her injury."
Teammate Hannah Eastman: "Simone is one of the hardest workers I know. She constantly brings a positive attitude to the pool and is ready to help cheer someone up during a hard set. It is always fun to watch her race because it is clear she gives 110 percent every single time. As a co-captain, Simone has also dedicated many hours to the team, exemplifying her love of the sport and impeccable leadership skills. Beyond the pool, she is a dedicated friend and will drop anything in a moment to be there for her friends and teammates."
