Women's Tennis / Sophomore / Hoover, Ala.
Daryn Ellison is a sophomore on the Maroon women's tennis team. She joined the doubles lineup at No. 2 alongside Marjorie Antohi for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship and NCAA postseason. Ellison and Antohi own a 4-1 combined record as UChicago finished second at UAAs and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the ninth time in program history.
Head Coach Jay Tee: "Daryn went 2-0 in doubles last weekend in our regional championships, providing two crucial points for the team. Daryn’s performance stands out because she wasn’t in the lineup most of the season, but has stepped in and delivered when it mattered most. She went 2-1 at the UAA Tournament and is now 2-0 in the NCAA Championships. Daryn never complained and never asked 'when is it my turn?', she continued to work hard all season long and was ready when her name was called in the post season."
Teammate Catherine Xu: "Daryn has been an incredible teammate this season both on and off the court. She truly cares about every single member on the team and is always open and willing to help anyone when in need. She has set a great example of what it means put the team before yourself, and the entire team has certainly enjoyed being in her presence on and off the court this season. We are definitely looking forward to the next couple as well."
