Anne Marie Stifter

Anne Marie Stifter

Volleyball / Outside Hitter / Junior / Oak Lawn, Ill.

Majors: Economics and Psychology

Anne Marie Stifter is a junior outside hitter for the UChicago volleyball team. In a Senior Day win over Elmhurst College, Stifter contributed five kills and 16 digs in the sweep. She has averaged 17.3 digs over the past three matches.

Head Coach Sharon Dingman: "In her third year as a starter, Anne Marie is playing her third different position. She’s the most skilled volleyball player in our program and she has the mental fortitude and volleyball IQ to play three different positions. In my 30+ years of coaching, I have yet to have a player that has started for three years in three different positions. Every time we ask her to do more, she responds. She a leader in the locker room and gym. She is a great Maroon!"

Teammate Sarah Muisenga: "Anne Marie is such a huge part of the success of our team, both on and off the court. She has played three very different positions each of her seasons here, which is way more difficult than she gets credit for. She is such a versatile, well-rounded player that contributes immensely in all of our matches. I always know I can rely on her for whatever we need, whether it’s a kill, an ace, a stuff block, a dig, you name it. She’s also a great leader, a great friend, and just a great person all around. I’m so lucky to have had her for a teammate the last three years."

Other OOC nominees

Sophie Elgamal (Women's Cross Country)

  • Head Coach Chris Hall: "Sophie was our top runner this weekend and earned recognition as All-UAA First Team. It's been a really an outstanding season for Sophie so far after a freshman year in which she was not able to compete all season due to an injury. I have been really impressed by her over the past two meets in particular - as the level of competition has elevated, she has as well. She has not being afraid to put herself into a position to succeed right from the start of the races. Our conference meet had seven of the eight teams nationally ranked and to place sixth overall is a really outstanding accomplishment."
