Women's Swimming & Diving / Breaststroke / Sophomore / Louisville, Ky.
Eleanor Cambron is a sophomore on the UChicago women's swimming & diving team. At the three-day Phoenix Fall Classic over the weekend, Cambron recorded three new personal-best times in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.26), 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.59) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.32).
Head Coach Jason Weber: "Ellie had one of her best meets as a Maroon as she recorded two personal bests in her 100/200 breaststroke events as well as on her 50 breast in the 200 medley relay. It was great seeing Ellie perform so well this early in the season because she has put in so much hard work this offseason and the first six weeks of this season. She’s really paid attention to the areas she has needed to improve upon and her hard work is paying off. In addition, Ellie always has a positive attitude and has become a vocal cheerleader on our team, getting her teammates pumped to compete!"
Teammate Nadia Redza: "Ellie is one of the hardest working and motivated females we have on the team. In the pool, she is constantly pushing herself everyday and is also constantly pushing others on the team as well. Every practice, you can just hear her pushing others by saying 'Let’s go team; we got this!' and her positivity just radiates off of her. Because of her bubbly and positive personality, you can’t help but smile whenever you see her! Ellie truly epitomises a supportive and talented teammate in all that she does for the team. Outside of the pool, she is always willing to lend a hand, whether it be putting equipment away or just to listen and give advice. I've had the pleasure of being able to train and work with such an incredible teammate, who always puts the team first. She absolutely deserves this WAA Athlete of the Week and many more in the future!"
