Volleyball / Libero / Junior / Oceanside, Calif.
Katherine Wilson is a junior libero on the UChicago volleyball team. Wilson is averaging a career-high 4.97 digs per set this season for the No. 6-ranked Maroons, who rank as one of the top defenses in the nation. Over her past six matches, she's averaging 5.73 digs per set.
Head Coach Sharon Dingman: "Katherine has been an integral part of our early season success. She keeps us in so many plays with her outstanding defense and hitter coverage. Katherine works so hard to continually improve her game. She is in the gym getting extra reps with Mitchell, she trains with a purpose. Katherine is taking on an increased leadership role as our defensive floor leader. She loves to compete and loves to see her teammates succeed."
Teammate Anne Marie Stifter: "Kat is the ultimate team player. She’s always willing to do anything for the team both on and off the court. She sacrifices her body to get digs to keep plays alive and always gives such positive energy when on the court. Off the court, she’s the first person to offer to pick up a cake for a birthday or a card for someone who needs a pick-me-up. Kat is such a great teammate! I couldn’t imagine our team without her!"
