UChicago became ranked No. 1 for the first time in program history this week. Paulson is second on the team in kills (210) and tied for third in digs (247).

Head Coach Sharon Dingman: "Freddie’s development into one of our go-to players has been incredible. For two years, she has been patiently waiting for this opportunity and has been remarkable moving into the starting position previously occupied by Sarah Muisenga. Freddie has fully committed to her strength and fitness and it has paid huge dividends. She impacts our success in every aspect of the game. As a six-rotation player, she attacks, blocks, is one of our primary passers and is stellar on defense. As a skilled volleyball player, Freddie is one of the best in the country."

Teammate Aasha Dave: "Freddie is so deserving of this award. She has been fearless this year on the court and has stepped up in every way imaginable. On the court, she is a force to be reckoned with and has had some incredible games with double-digit kills and digs. She is so crucial to our success this season and brings 100 percent effort and positivity to every practice, workout and match. Even more than her incredible offense, her defense has stepped up in huge ways and she is as critical in the back row as she is in the front. However, Freddie's presence off the court is even greater. She is the most positive, caring and supportive team member. She is always ready to hype up the team, or bring the energetic drive we need on the court. As one of her roommates, I would be the first to get tired of her constant energy, but I never am. She brings so much to the team, and has been such a fierce competitor and loyal friend this year, as she has been since she stepped into the gym first year. I'm so lucky that this team brought us together and I can speak for our team when I say that Freddie is an incredible teammate and we are so grateful to have her."
