University of Chicago Women's Board

Each spring, the University of Chicago Women's Board selects a few projects to fund for the coming academic year. The Women's Board funds a range of projects, but is mainly interested in initiatives that make a lasting impact and improve the quality of student life at the U of C.

In the past, gifts have ranged from $3,000 to $20,000 and have funded a wide variety of projects, including equipment for Sailing, Crew, Fencing and Martial Arts. (Note: Although the Women's Board typically makes decisions on which projects to fund in late-May/early-June, funds are not available until approximately January of the following year.)

To Apply:
Only a few proposals can be submitted to the Director of Intramurals, Recreation and Sport Clubs. The decision to forward proposals onto the Women's Board is based on the appropriateness of the request (as it relates to the type of projects that the Women's Board seeks to fund) as well as the immediate need for the project.

Sport Clubs interested in submitting a proposal to the Women's Board should speak with the Director of Intramurals, Recreation and Sport Clubs to discuss the viability of the project.
If initially approved, Sport Clubs will be required to turn in a one page description of the project with an attached budget. Generally by mid-February, groups will be notified whether or not they should prepare a full proposal.

Those groups asked to prepare full proposals will then work with the Director of Intramurals, Recreation and Sport Clubs to complete the proposals by the deadlines set forth by the Women's Board.
