University of Chicago sophomore Spencer Gordon-Sand recently competed for Team USA in an international fencing event in Egypt.
A member of the UChicago fencing club, Gordon-Sand was part of the American squad that traveled to Le Caire, Egypt for the Senior World Cup from March 1-3. He competed in six matches on the weekend. It marked his second international tournament since coming to the university, following a Grand Prix in Italy during his first year.
Last year, Gordon-Sand had a perfect record while leading the men’s foil team to a first-place finish in the club fencing championships and a second-place finish in the midwest conference. This year, he posted a 47-1 record in the regular season and finished seventh individually in the conference championships, leading the team to a fourth-place finish in the conference.
