CHICAGO – The University of Chicago's Department of Athletics & Recreation recently signed a five-year contract with Adidas to serve as the official apparel and footwear provider for the Maroons.
Director of Athletics & Recreation Erin McDermott announced the agreement on Wednesday afternoon. UChicago student-athletes will begin to be outfitted in Adidas gear in all 20 varsity sports in the 2017-18 academic year. The deal covers all uniforms, apparel and footwear worn by the teams.
Based in Germany, Adidas is the second-largest sportswear provider worldwide. The partnership will afford department-wide benefits in numerous areas, including the availability of high-quality products, and a consistent maroon color paired with rebranded logos for uniform style and design across all varsity teams. UChicago Athletics & Recreation previously introduced its updated departmental identity and signature logos in September 2016.
"This is an exciting partnership for the Maroons," McDermott said. "Adidas is a premier athletics provider. Our teams will be unified through wearing first-rate gear while proudly representing UChicago."
