CHICAGO – The University of Chicago secured three University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Mia Farrell was picked as the UAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week following her career-best scoring performance last Saturday. The sophomore guard rung up 31 points against conference rival Washington University – St. Louis to lead the Maroons to a 96-90 victory. She made 15 of 18 free throws in the game and shot at least 50 percent from the field (6-11) and three-point range (4-8). UChicago capped its conference ledger with a perfect 14-0 mark. The team takes its 21-game winning streak into this weekend's NCAA Tournament.
Jake Fenlon closed out his career in style, earning UAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week along the way. Fenlon tied his season high with 31 points to lead UChicago to an 86-77 win over No. 2-ranked Washington – St. Louis in Saturday's season finale. The senior guard hit six three-pointers to give himself an even 100 for the season, blowing away his previous school record of 76 set in the 2016-17 season.
Luke Tsai was the UAA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the third time in the month of February. The senior posted a perfect 3-0 record on the weekend to lead the No. 9-ranked Maroons to a third-place finish at the ITA Indoor Nationals. Playing at No. 2 singles, Tsai took down all three of his opponents from Carnegie Mellon University (7-5, 6-0), Emory University (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Washington – St. Louis (6-3, 6-1). He is currently riding a 16-match winning streak and improved his singles record to 18-2.
