Outdoor Track & Field

UChicago's track and field squads will head to Iowa on Friday for the Dr. Tucker Open hosted by Loras College.

At the UAA Championships last weekend, the women finished second while the men placed third. The Maroons combined for 26 All-UAA performances from 16 different athletes and won four event titles. Senior Khia Kurtenbach broke the UAA meet record on her way to victory in the 10,000 meters. Her time of 35:24.57 bested a mark that had stood for 26 years by nearly three seconds. It was the second-fastest time in program history and the seventh-fastest in Division III this season. Sophomore Laura Darcey defended her long jump title on Saturday and added a high jump win on Sunday, with teammates junior Alexandra Thompson and senior Ade Ayoola filling out the podium for a Maroon sweep. On the men's side, senior Nathan Downey claimed victory in the pole vault, while sophomore Alexander Scott racked up All-UAA honors in three events (shot put, hammer throw and discus).
