Griffith and Ruark Picked as UAA Athletes of the Week

CHICAGO – University of Chicago's Emma Griffith and Kyle Ruark were each selected as Athletes of the Week by the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Monday afternoon.

Griffith was the UAA Setter of the Week for the fourth time this season and third week in-a-row. The sophomore led the UChicago offense to a 3-0 weekend at UAA Round Robin #1, hosted by Brandeis University. The Maroons dropped only one set while dispatching Brandeis, Case Western Reserve University and No. 8-ranked Washington University – St. Louis. Griffith posted 10.0 assists per set while adding 4.10 digs per set defensively.

Ruard secured UAA Offensive Athlete of the Week in men's soccer. On Saturday, the first-year midfielder scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes left in the game to lead No. 2-ranked UChicago to a 1-0 victory over No. 4-ranked University of Rochester. The Yellowjackets were dealt their first loss of the season while the Maroons improved to 10-0-1. Ruark has tallied three goals and two assists so far this season, with two game-winners.
