UChicago Athletics Preview: October 29 - November 4


No. 10-ranked UChicago (26-3 overall, 6-1 UAA) travels to University of Rochester for the two-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday and Saturday. The Maroons, who come in as the No. 2 seed in the bracket, will take on No. 7-seed Rochester (23-9, 1-6 UAA) starting at Noon (ET) on Friday.

UChicago reached 25 wins for the 11th time in program history. Sophomore setter Emma Griffith is ranked third in NCAA Division III in total assists (1,157) while running the 10th-most efficient offense in the nation with a .251 team hitting percentage. The Maroons have won 14 of their past 15 matches.

Men's Soccer

The No. 4-ranked Maroons (14-2-1 overall, 5-1 UAA) wrap up their regular-season schedule at Washington University – St. Louis (7-6-2, 3-1-2 UAA) on Saturday.

In UChicago's 14 wins this season, 10 have come via shutout. Sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Katsimpalis currently ranks 27th in the nation with an .851 save percentage this year. The Maroons have outshot 14 of their 17 opponents so far.

Women's Soccer

No. 20-ranked UChicago (13-3-1 overall, 4-2 UAA) concludes its UAA schedule at No. 1-ranked Washington – St. Louis (16-0, 6-0 UAA) on Saturday afternoon.

The Maroons rank 22nd in NCAA Division III with 11.9 shots on goal per game. The team's 49 goals lead the UAA, as does its 119 corner kicks. UChicago has only been outshot one time this year. Senior midfielder Jenna McKinney is now ranked second in school history in goals (43) and points (107).

The Maroons (5-3 overall, 3-1 MWC North) play their final road game of the season at Macalester College (5-3, 2-2 MWC North) on Saturday.

Swimming & Diving

UChicago enters its second weekend of competition with a home tri-meet versus Washington – St. Louis and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday afternoon at the Myers-McLoraine Pool.

In their previous dual meet, the Maroons won 27 of the 32 events versus Wheaton College. Juniors Byrne Litschgi and Lance Culjat won three events each. Sophomores Nicole Lin, Elizabeth Shen. Taylor Hammill and first-year Alice Ye finished first in two events apiece.
