Football’s Ross and Volleyball’s Griffith Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Status

CHICAGO – University of Chicago sophomores Jackson Ross and Emma Griffith earned 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District status.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams are voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Academic All-District recipients must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.

Ross was an Academic All-District Football selection at his defensive tackle position. An economics major, Ross led the team in tackles for the second-straight year with 104. He made his presence felt in the backfield with 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. The sophomore intercepted one pass and also made an impact on special teams with two blocked kicks. Ross was named First Team All-Midwest Conference at the season's conclusion. UChicago limited opponents to 11.8 points per game this season.

Griffith received Academic All-District Volleyball honors as a setter. The sophomore law, letters & society major was one of the top players at her position nationally. She led a top 13 offense in the nation with a .244 team hitting percentage and finished second in NCAA Division III with 1,367 assists. Additionally, she posted 44 services aces, 396 digs (3.17 per set) and 39 blocks. At season's end, Griffith was picked as First Team All-University Athletic Association, American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region, and AVCA Honorable Mention All-America.
