Indoor Track & Field

UChicago will serve as host for the second time this season as the Windy City Invitational takes place on Friday (multis) and Saturday (full meet) at the Henry Crown Field House.

During last week's meets at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the Maroons combined for seven event titles. The women swept the four distance races – 800 meters, one mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters. The men grabbed the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters as well. Junior Alexander Scott was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Field Athlete of the Week with a shot put mark of 15.80 that ranked 12th-best in NCAA Division III.

Women's Basketball

The No. 19-ranked Maroons (14-4 overall, 5-2 UAA) reach the mid-point of the UAA schedule this weekend. One week after playing the same teams at home, UChicago hits the road for a Friday evening contest at Case Western Reserve University (12-6, 4-3 UAA) and a Sunday afternoon game at Carnegie Mellon University (10-8, 1-6 UAA).

UChicago swept a pair of home games versus CWRU and CMU last weekend by scores of 83-55 and 57-45, respectively. The Maroons have held three opponents to under 50 points this season. Over the past six games, their opposition is only averaging 54.7 points per game and has shot over 40 percent from the field just once.

Men's Basketball

Now in a three-way tie atop the UAA standings, UChicago (12-6 overall, 5-2 UAA) proceeds to the second half of the conference schedule at Case Western Reserve (9-9, 2-5 UAA) on Friday and at Carnegie Mellon (8-10, 3-4 UAA) on Sunday.

The Maroons split with those same teams the previous weekend, falling 85-80 to CWRU and winning 100-84 over CMU. Senior guard Noah Karras scored 23 points in 24 minutes against CMU with four three-pointers. His 167 career three-pointers made rank sixth in program history. UChicago reached the 100-point threshold for the first time since December 17, 2016 in a 121-101 victory at Rhodes College.

In their final tune-up before the UAA Championship, the No. 24-ranked Maroons (7-3 record) will wrestle a home dual versus Augustana College (1-9) on Friday night.

At Wheaton College's Pete Willson Invitational last weekend, UChicago finished 15th out of 38 teams with three placers on the podium. UAA Wrestler of the Week Kyle Peisker was runner-up at 174 pounds, becoming the first Maroon to reach a title match at the Wheaton Invite since Devan Richter (125 pounds) in 2016. Junior Kahlan Lee-Lermer (165 pounds) and senior Patrick Mulkerin (285 pounds) both finished seventh in their weight classes.

Swimming & Diving

UChicago's divers will be in action at the University of Illinois-Chicago Diving Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Last weekend's Senior Day meet saw the Maroons sweep past Calvin College and DePauw University with a combined 27 event victories. First-year Elizabeth Cron was named UAA Women's Diver of the Week on Monday after getting two wins on the one-meter and three-meter boards, including a school record of 308.32 points on the three-meter. Three Maroon divers tallied five NCAA provisional qualifying scores at the meet.

Men's and Women's Tennis

The No. 3-ranked Maroon men (1-0 record) and No. 10-ranked UChicago women (1-0 record) will play home matches on Saturday afternoon against visiting Hope College at XS Tennis. The men are scheduled to take on No. 25-ranked Kalamazoo College on Sunday morning as well.

Both UChicago squads began 2019 with wins over NCAA Division II opponent Lewis University. In last year's matchups with Hope, the Maroon men swept 9-0 for the second-straight season while the women also earned a 9-0 shutout. UChicago's women have won 13-straight February matches, stretching back to 2016.
