No. 12-ranked UChicago (11-1-2 record, 3-0-1 UAA) returns to the Stagg Field grass for a pair of University Athletic Association conference contests this weekend. The Maroons take on Case Western Reserve University (12-3, 1-3 UAA) on Friday afternoon and No. 23-ranked Carnegie Mellon University (10-3-1, 3-1 UAA) on Sunday morning.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Smith picked up UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday in her shutout effort against Illinois Institute of Technology last week. Smith made her first collegiate start in the 1-0 victory, making three saves. Senior midfielder Hanna Watkins scored the game-winning goal. She now ranks fourth in program history with 31 career goals and seventh in career points with 80.

The No. 6-ranked Maroons (8-1-5 record, 4-0 UAA) look to strengthen their position atop the UAA standings with weekend home games against Case Western Reserve (6-5-4, 0-2-2 UAA) on Friday night and Carnegie Mellon (6-6-1, 2-2 UAA) on Sunday afternoon.
UChicago's final non-conference game of the regular season last week ended in a 1-1 tie with Carthage College. Junior goalkeeper Aaron Katsimpalis tied his career high with nine saves on the evening. The Maroons have 10 different scorers for their 24 goals this season. Over the past five years, UChicago owns a 58-1-1 record when scoring at least two goals in a game.

UChicago heads out to Pittsburgh for the UAA Championships on Saturday. The men's 8K race leads off at 11:00 AM (ET) with the women's 6K occurring at Noon (ET) on the course at Schenley Park.
The October 23 USTFCCCA national polls feature six men's teams and six women's teams from the UAA in the top 35. The Maroons men and women are both ranked No. 7. At last year's UAA Championships, UChicago was runner-up on the women's side and third on the men's side. Junior Ryan Cutter has been the men's top finisher in four-straight races while senior Maggie Boudreau has been the lead women's runner the past two times races.

The Maroons enter week two of their competitive schedule with a home dual meet versus Carthage College.
In last weekend's meet at Wheaton College, UChicago won 26 of the 28 events. Nine races were won by first-years, including two apiece by Arthur Kiselnikov and Filippa Kolokotsa. Other individual multi-winners included Alexander Sun, Nick Ding, Nicole Lin and Gilligan Gagnard.

First place in the Midwest Conference South Division is on the line Saturday afternoon when UChicago (4-2, 2-0 MWC) takes on Monmouth College (4-2, 2-0 MWC) on the Stagg Field turf.

The Maroons (24-1 record) maintained their No. 1 national ranking for a second-straight week and will gear up for the conference tournament with a Saturday tilt at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (18-8).
UChicago went 2-0 at the Hope College Triangular, with a 3-1 victory at No. 20-ranked Hope and a 3-0 sweep of Alma College. Two Maroons – senior middle hitter Madison Pearson and junior setter Emma Griffith – were picked on Monday as UAA Athletes of the Week. Pearson hit over 55 percent on the week to boost her season hitting percentage to .318.
