CHICAGO – The University Athletic Association (UAA) selected four Maroons as UAA Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Ryan Cutter's highlight performance at the NCAA Division III Championship earned him UAA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week status. Cutter became an All-American for the second-straight season by placing ninth overall at the national meet. The junior finished the 8K course in 24:38.8. It marks the fourth-highest NCAA placement in program history. Cutter's efforts helped UChicago's men finish 12th in the team standings.
The Maroons were well represented in the pool with three UAA awards in the wake of the three-day Phoenix Fall Classic. Sophomore Elizabeth Cron was the UAA Women's Diver of the Week with a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying scores. She won the three-meter dive with 489.35 points and was runner-up in the one-meter dive with 482.95 points.
Gillian Gagnard snagged UAA Women's Swimmer of the Week honors. The junior won the 100-yard backstroke (56.49) and 200-yard backstroke (2:02.16) with NCAA B-cut times. She also posted quality splits in the 200-yard freestyle relay (23.89), 400-yard freestyle relay (52.17) and 400-yard medley relay (56.91).
The UAA Men's Swimmer of the Week went to Arthur Kiselnikov. The Maroon rookie achieved NCAA B-cut times in every event he swam, including the 50-yard freestyle (20.61), 100-yard freestyle (44.75) and 100-yard butterfly (48.96). His relay splits were among the fastest in the nation: 44.11 freestyle split in the 400 medley relay; 1:38.79 freestyle lead leg in the 800 free relay; 21.91 butterfly split in the 200 medley relay; and 43.83 freestyle split in the 400 free relay.
