Maletich and Schmitz Pick Up UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

CHICAGO – University of Chicago's Isabel Maletich and Cole Schmitz were each selected as University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Maletich was picked as the UAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. At the Windy City Rumble, the Maroon sophomore handily won both the triple jump and long jump. Her triple jump set a new school record at 12.40 meters and also ranks as the No. 1 mark all of NCAA Division III. Additionally, Maletich's long jump of 5.77 meters ranks third in the nation.

Schmitz also became a two-time recipient of the UAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week accolade. The senior guard led the Maroons to a pair of weekend road wins – 84-76 at No. 6-ranked Emory University and 68-48 at University of Rochester. He averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in those wins, while shooting over 50 percent from the field and three-point range. On the season, Schmitz leads the team with 13.8 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
