Maroons Defeat Tufts 8-1

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Winning for the third time in its last four matches, the 27th-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team defeated Tufts University 8-1 on its spring break trip Thursday.

Notes

  • Chicago improved to 7-6 overall, 4-5 against Division III opponents. Tufts fell to 4-4.

  • With a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6 singles, freshman Deepak Sabada (Saratoga, Calif./ Saratoga) extended his winning streak to four matches.

  • Sabada and fellow first-year Ankur Bhargava (Centreville, Va./ Westfield) won their fourth straight match at #2 doubles (8-4).

  • Sophomores Krishna Ravella (Hinsdale, Ill./ Central) and Zsolt Szabo (Budapest, Hungary/ Brittanica International) notched their fifth straight doubles win with a 9-8 (5) decision at #3.
