SAN ANTONIO, Texas – University of Chicago men's basketball put their five-game win streak on the line Thursday night as they took on their first ranked team of the season in No. 22 Trinity. Two big runs by the Tigers to start each half did the Maroons in though as they ended their Texas trip with a 82-63 loss in San Antonio.
FINAL SCORE
UChicago – 63
No. 22 Trinity – 82
HOW IT HAPPENED
- University of Chicago (8-3) began the game by falling into a sizeable hole after seeing No. 22 Trinity (11-0) jump out to a 17-2 lead after just over six minutes of action. The Maroons shot just 30.3 percent from the field in the frame while they saw their opponents make their shots at a 54.2 percent clip and sunk all four attempts from long range.
- However, the Maroons weren't going to just lay down for the rest of the game. After seeing the Tigers advantage grow to 22 with 3:39 left in the first half, a Joe Berry free throw capped off an 11-1 run to get back within 12 and they'd eventually go into the locker rooms down by 14.
- Unfortunately, Trinity repeated what they did in the first half and started off the second with another major run that would put the game out of reach early for the Maroons. UChicago was dominated inside the paint, losing that battle 44-12 as they'd see their five game win streak snapped with a 19 point loss to end their road trip.
