CHICAGO -- The 7th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team earned the #4 overall seed and will stay home for the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament as the Maroons will host three other teams at the Stagg Grass Fields for the Regional Tournament.
The Maroons will host the Regional tournament on Saturday and Sunday as the field reduces from 64 teams to 16. #7 UChicago will host UW-Superior at 11 AM CT on Saturday, and #24 St. Catherine will take on UW-La Crosse at 1:30 PM CT on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, the winners of each of the opening round games will play at 1 PM CT with a spot in the NCAA Tournament Sectional round on the line.
The University of Chicago enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 12-2-3 in the regular season, and the team finished in third place in the UAA with a record of 3-2-2 in league play. The Maroons earned a draw against #1 WashU on Saturday to help earn the #4 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and hosting rights in the opening rounds.
This will be the first time that the women's soccer team has hosted the Regional round since 2021 after being sent on the road to Calvin and Loras in the past two seasons. The Maroons will look to improve on their Sectional Final appearance a year ago when the Maroons picked up wins over Lawrence, #16 Calvin, and #5 Messiah before falling to #1 WashU in the Sectional Final.
