#7 Maroons Outlast Lake Forest for Fourth Straight WIn

Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. -The 7th-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team battled out a road victory at Lake Forest on Wednesday night after trailing till the last nine minutes of the game to secure its fourth straight win. Five Maroons scored in double figures, led by Shane Regan's 19 points, as the Maroons move to 6–1 on the season.

Lake Forest opened the game with a series of baskets in the paint, but UChicago countered with a 16–3 run midway through the first half, sparked by scoring from tough inside finishes by Nick Roper and Joe Berry. As the Maroons' ball movement began to shine, a dagger three-pointer from Daniel Cochran put the team up by six, forcing Lake Forest to take a timeout. The Foresters closed the period strong, and UChicago entered the break even at 37–37 despite generating 15 second-chance points in the half. The even scoring battle between the teams proved to be one to watch.

Lake Forest started the second half on a 12–4 run to build a six-point advantage, but the Maroons steadily regained control. Regan and Berry found their attack to be successful at the rim, and Regan's three-pointer at the 16:04 mark pulled UChicago within a one-possession game. Moments later, Eamonn Kenah buried a three from the left wing to make it 50–49, and the teams began to trade baskets in a tightly contested stretch.

With just nine minutes remaining, the Maroons found a way to take charge. After a Lake Forest three briefly put the Foresters ahead by two again, Cochran grabbed an offensive rebound on the next possession and slammed a two-hand dunk off a feed from Roper to reclaim the lead. The Maroons never trailed again. UChicago then produced an impressive 10–2 run that included baskets from Berry, Regan, Cochran, and Kenah, extending the margin to six entering the final five minutes.

Lake Forest continued to challenge the offensive battle, but UChicago responded each time. With barely more than a minute remaining, Roper delivered a block shot to protect the Maroons' five-point edge. The Foresters began to foul for a final push, but UChicago knocked down its free throws to seal the gritty win.

UChicago dominated the glass 45–38, including a 17–9 advantage on the offensive boards. Regan's 19 led all teams in scoring, while Cochran filled up an impressive stat sheet himself. The sophomore finished with 14 points and eight rebounds on the night, along with four assists and two steals. Berry added 13 points and four assists, while Roper posted a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

The Maroons will have a quick turnaround as they return home this weekend to take on Kalamazoo. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
