SEGUIN, Texas – Friday night's pitching showdown in Texas featured plenty of zeros on the scoreboard, but the University of Chicago baseball team ultimately lost a narrow 2-0 decision at Texas Lutheran University.

The Maroons (7-4 record) saw their seven-game winning streak snapped. The No. 19-ranked Bulldogs improved to 18-4.

The hosts tallied the only runs of the game in the first and third innings. TLU scored on a double-play groundout and a solo home run.

Both pitchers held the lineups in check all evening. Junior Brenton Villasenor (0-2) tossed the second complete game of his career, with a pitching line of two runs, seven hits, two walks and one strikeout over eight innings.

Offensively, UChicago was limited to five hits. Senior outfielder Maximiliano Larsen went 1-for-3 with one walk.
