Petersen and Larsen Receive Baseball All-Region Status

ABCA All-Region

CHICAGO – University of Chicago baseball players Jacob Petersen and Maximiliano Larsen earned 2018 All-Central Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and, respectively.

Petersen was named to the Central All-Region Second Team by the ABCA on Tuesday. Over the course of 11 appearances and 10 starts, Petersen led the pitching staff with an 8-2 record. The sophomore righthander posted a 3.99 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 49.2 innings pitched. Hitters were limited to a .254 batting average against him. He held the opposition to zero or one earned run on five different occasions.

Through his first two years at UChicago, Petersen owns a 13-3 career record with a 3.96 ERA in 84 innings pitched.

On Monday, Larsen was a All-Central Region Third Team selection. The senior started all 39 games, primarily in right field. Larsen hit for a .345 batting average and led the team with 23 doubles, 44 RBI, 28 walks and a .572 slugging percentage. He added two homers, two triples, 44 runs and four stolen bases.

Larsen's decorated four-year collegiate career concludes with him residing atop the school's list with 60 doubles. In the UChicago career record books, he ranks second in walks (97), third in runs (140), sixth in hits (171) and ninth in RBI (107). The lefty was previously a Second Team ABCA All-Region honoree in 2017.
