WESTFIELD, Ind. – Strong pitching performances highlighted the University of Chicago baseball team's doubleheader sweep of Thomas More University on Sunday.

The Maroons improved to 4-1 on the season while the Saints fell to 2-6.

Game One – UChicago 6, Thomas More 2

Senior pitcher Brenton Villasenor missed bats all throughout his 5.2 innings pitched. The right-hander struck out 11 batters with no walks and six hits allowed in the winning effort.

Offensively, senior first baseman Brady Sarkon was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBI. Junior Payton Jancsy knocked a double and drove in a run while going 2-for-3.

Game Two – UChicago 4, Thomas More 3

The nightcap featured another dominating outing from first-year pitcher Kyle Petri. In four innings of relief, the big lefty racked up 11 strikeouts while only allowing two hits with no walks. Petri has now totaled 27 strikeouts in a mere 11 innings pitched so far this season.

Jancsy went 2-for-4 once again while stealing two bases. Sophomore outfielder Joseph Burns cracked a two-run double as well.
