CHICAGO – University of Chicago baseball player Payton Jancsy was recently selected to the 2020 Academic All-District Baseball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A senior economics major, Jancsy was a four-year starter for the Maroons playing primarily in right field. Over his four years on the squad, UChicago scored 7.6 runs per game and accumulated a team record of 77-41 (.652 winning percentage).
Jancsy ranks fourth in school history in triples (9) and eighth in stolen bases (30). His career stats also include 13 doubles, 83 RBI, 33 walks, a .354 batting average and .413 on-base percentage. In 2019, he was picked Third Team All-Region (ABCA) as well as All-Midwest Conference North Division Team.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams are voted upon by the membership of CoSIDA. Academic All-District recipients must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. The CoSIDA Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 8-11.
