Rough first half send Maroons men's basketball to 79-48 loss at Emory

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Offensive struggles in the first half sent the University of Chicago men's basketball team to a 79-48 loss at Emory University on Sunday.

The Maroons dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the UAA. The Eagles improved to 9-4 overall, 1-2 in UAA action.

UChicago fell behind by double digits (16-5) midway through the first half. The Maroons couldn't get their offense going and Emory took advantage with a 17-1 run. The hosts held a 37-13 advantage at halftime, and kept the lead firmly in hand throughout the rest of the game.

UChicago was held to 4 of 28 shooting in the first half (14.3 percent) and finished the game with a season-low field goal percentage of 22.8 percent (13-57). The Eagles shot 45.2 percent in the game and dominated the rebounding 50-32.
