Maroons men's basketball team achieves NABC academic distinction

CHICAGO, Ill. - The University of Chicago men's basketball team was one of 129 squads that received the 2013-14 Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday.

The award is given to men's basketball teams in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II, that achieved a combined 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2013-14 season. Two days earlier, guard Wayne Simon earned individual academic honors from the NABC.

The Maroons finished the year with a 15-10 overall record and took third place in the University Athletic Association (UAA) at 8-6.
