CHICAGO – The University of Chicago men's basketball team earned three selections to the 2019-20 University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Association Teams on Thursday.
Cole Schmitz led the Maroon contingent with Second Team All-UAA recognition. The senior guard averaged career highs of 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, which also paced the team. He sank a team-high 42 three-pointers and shot 44 percent from the field overall. Last year, Schmitz was picked Honorable Mention All-UAA.
Baum posted averages of 9.0 points, 4.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. He led the team in free-throw percentage (.816) while finishing second in steals (26) and third in three-pointers made (39). Over his four-year career, the senior point guard set a new school record for career assists with 489. His 113 career steals rank fourth in UChicago's record books, while his 167 career three-pointers place him seventh. This marks Baum's second-straight All-UAA selection.
McDaniel's breakout junior campaign saw him average career highs across the board. He tallied 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest while leading the team in field-goal percentage at 53.4 percent. The forward made 43.5 percent of his three-pointers – also best on the squad. McDaniel converted 77.5 percent from the free throw line as well.
