CHICAGO – University of Chicago men's basketball recently received team and individual academic honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The Maroons earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, which is given to teams who achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 season.
Additionally, five UChicago players were named to the 2019-20 NABC Honors Court. The awardees included graduates Jordan Baum, Mattia Colangelo and Cole Schmitz, along with rising seniors Dominic Laravie and Ezra Swell.
Qualifications for the NABC Honors Court include:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
