WALTHAM, Mass. – The University of Chicago men's soccer team maintained its hot streak in conference play with a 1-0 road victory at Brandeis University on Friday night.
The No. 5-ranked Maroons improved to 7-1-4 overall and 3-0 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Judges fell to 7-3-4 overall (1-1-1 UAA).
UChicago's defense stood tall once again, recording its fourth-straight shutout. The visitors edged Brandeis 7-6 in total shots and 2-1 in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Aaron Karsimpalis (7-1-4 record) snahhed both shots on goal that came his way in 90 minutes of action.
The Maroons nearly got on the board just before halftime, but sophomore Kyle Ruark's shot was saved. Early in the second half, UChicago broke through as sophomore Sahil Modi tallied his third goal of the year from an assist by fellow sophomore Vicente Mateus. The 49th minute goal stood up the rest of the way. Modi has now scored in three-consecutive games.
