UChicago swimming and diving posts 3-1 record against Lewis and Olivet Nazarene

CHICAGO – Back in the pool for the first time in nearly two months, the University of Chicago swimming and diving teams went a combined 3-1 in a home tri-meet with Lewis University and Olivet Nazarene University on Friday.

UChicago's women defeated Lewis 190-103 and Olivet Nazarene 152-144, while the Maroon men topped Lewis 157-122 and lost to Olivet Nazarene 154-133.

In total, UChicago won six women's events and six men's events, with different winners in nine of 10 individual events. Junior diver Dean Boures was a multi-winner in the men's one-meter dive (269.48) and three-meter dive (272.40). Senior Abby Erdmann took the women's 500-yard freestyle (5:12.55) and was also part of the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:38.13).

Freshman Taye Baldinazzo provided one of the night's biggest highlights when he broke the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle. His winning time of 9:33.55 beat out the runner-up by more than 10 seconds.

The women's divers also excelled during the evening competition. Sophomore Anna Girlich recorded two NCAA provisional scores, winning the one-meter with 259.58 and taking runner-up in the three-meter with 265.28. Junior Natalie DeMuro achieved an NCAA provisional score on the three-meter board, taking first with 271.43.
