ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Chicago men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off Day 1 of the swimming portion of the 2018 University Athletic Association Championships with three all-conference finishes Thursday at Emory University.
Sophomore Lance Culjat and Keda Song went 2-3 in the 200 IM event to lead the Maroon men's performance. With six Top 5 finishes, UChicago stands fourth (369 points) in the eight-team standings through 12 events, with host Emory leading the way with 533 points.
On the women's side, the 200 freestyle relay team of Nicole Lin, Daria Wick, Gillian Gagnard, and Yifan Mao also captured all-conference honors with their third-place finish. After 12 events, the UChicago women stand in fifth place (361 points), with Emory also leading the way with 674 points.
In total, the Maroon women recorded five Top 8 finishes Thursday.
Competition continues Friday through Saturday in Atlanta.
