CHICAGO – Both University of Chicago swimming and diving teams were recognized as Scholar All-America squads by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), while 16 Maroons were honored as individual Scholar All-Americans.
A total of 710 teams from 476 institutions made the Scholar All-America list at the conclusion of the academic year. Teams must achieve a team GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the status.
UChicago's women posted a team GPA of 3.48 and the Maroon men owned a 3.35 team GPA.
The Maroons accounted for 16 individuals on the Scholar All-America team as well, with nine women and seven men. A record 1,069 swimmers and divers received First Team honors, while 1,137 were named Honorable Mention selections.
First Team honorees achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention picks posted a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.
